Since 1982, with the founding of The Summit Group, Inc. Captain William ‘T’ Thompson, Esq. has been helping organizations enhance their strategic, operational and financial conditions and ultimately improve their bottom lines.
Bringing “real world” experience to management consulting, he has been both CEO of multiple and diverse businesses and a top governmental appointee. He has brought this practical expertise to a wide variety of industry segments including, aviation, real estate, and technology, health care, and banking, food service, engineering and legal. He has also done extensive work in the not-for-profit sector, primarily in the areas of strategic planning and governance.

Re Engineering
Northeast Health Systems---Helped to develop and implement the strategy that expanded a not-for-profit hospital’s assets into a for-profit holding company. The resultant company acquired hospitals, nursing homes, MRI facilities and developed assisted living retirement communities.
Organization Design
The American Cancer Society---Helped to design and implement a new national and regional organizational structure. The process included a reorganization of the National Board of Directors, establishment of a new governance model and adoption of long range strategic goals. The CEO conservatively estimates that this process of resource realignment saved the Society some 50 million dollars a year.

Crossings Development Corporation---Developed and helped to implement corporate strategy to obtain section 8(a) status with the U.S. Small Business Administration. Successful designation enabled the company to grow its revenues by a factor of 20.
Systems Design
Boeing Corporation/McDonald Douglas---Helped to design management systems, determine human resource requirements and define IT system integration protocols for both prime and sub-contractors on a major technology project for the city of Boston, MA.
Technology Innovation
Environmental Protection Agency---Helped to design and implement a structure to track the identification and clean-up of hazardous waste sites under the super-fund clean-up program.
Strategic Formulation
ComTel Productions, Inc.---Helped to design corporate strategy for the acquisition of television licenses, construction of television stations and the establishment of a video production unit. The company acquired three licenses, built two stations and established an award winning video production company.

Organizational Alignment
Massachusetts Aeronautics Commission---Advised the Agency on alignment of organizational mission and state statute with actual operating procedures. Successful work at the Agency resulted in the appointment of Captain Thompson by the Governor as Commissioner. He was subsequently reappointed to five successive four year terms by three different Governors both Democratic and Republican and has the distinction of being the longest serving Commissioner in the Agency’s history.
